First of all I would say thank you for viewing my very first blog post, I’m really really excited to be embarking on this new journey as a blogger. My content will mostly include fashion, hair & beauty, and lifestyle. Let’s get straight into the gist 🙂
By now you are probably wondering “2nd marriage?” what actually happened? i needed a title to get your attention like those youtube videos with extravagant titles but not so extravagant content, but on a serious note i actually got married twice except ……you can find out as you scroll through 🙂 don’t want to let the cat out the bag so quickly ey?
Also i will be sharing amazing photos from our vintage themed wedding, as well as writing little bit about what it is like to get married at the young age of 21.
Get a snack or brew some coffee and i hope you Enjoy 🙂
We had such a great time filled with love and happiness, enjoying every moment from the ceremony to the reception it was an absolute blast! So i started my day off feeling refreshed and looking forward to the day, even though I had only slept for a few hours due to the excitement from the night before then it dawned on me that this was actually my 2nd marriage within a year.
So it all started a few years ago when I and Abo (husband) well… fiance at that time were both models and he was signed to a modelling agency named First model management and through his influence I was able to get myself a modelling contract with the same agency. I flew into London from Lagos Nigeria to work as a fashion model, and that was the beginning of a life changing experience for me, one of the first most amazing things that’s ever happened to me.
must have been annoying him already haha
The amazing modelling agency sponsored me with a 3 months working Visa which was later extended for another 3 months and then another 12 months because they were impressed with me as a model and I worked as a full time Model. Before i came to London myself and Abo were already courting to get married but certainly not to get married this soon, I was only 20 years old at the time and he was only 23 years old. He had been in Nigeria a year earlier when he visited for 3 months, He was so eager to see me and couldn’t stop talking about my looks and how much he loved me, many times i thought he was just a joker as he never takes things serious, we had also been talking for about 2 years before i came, so we were pretty sure we wanted to be with each other forever, he had this high top that made him look like kids from house party, it was so high you’d think you could reach heaven climbing on it and he wasn’t even afraid to meet my parents and my pastor with a hair like that, and if he had been given the choice he would have taken me back with him to London a year before i was sponsored to come. (p.s this guy is crazy).
I told you he’s crazy
By this time my visa was due to expire in about a year, so we decided that instead of extending my visa, I could have a spouse visa, if i became a dependant of Abo who is a British citizen, this also means that i get to be with the one I love and i don’t have to solely depend on modelling, I can also get involved in other career goals. Abo was still studying for his Masters when we made this decision, he was so excited he began to apply for Jobs because he couldn’t wait to get married to me. He did secure a Job straight after his Masters which helped in securing a spouse visa as he needed to be working for at least 6 months (what you do for love <3)
This meant that before any of this could even happen we had to get a marriage Registry done and receive our Pastors blessing – this was the first marriage.
So we were legally married and in the eyes of God were able to live together. I would say being married at the age of 21 is the best thing that could have happened to me, it’s was certainly a life changing experience, if you get married to the right person, someone who sees you as their best friend, understands you, and takes an interests in your development and growth…. talking about interests, myself and Abo were both fashion models and he was able to empathise with me as a model. He also encouraged my strengths and helped me achieve personal goals and I also vice versa
I hear people say that when you get married your dreams are not going to be fulfilled, you will have a baby and you will not be able to pursue your dreams. Bla bla bla
I mean these are things that you both would have discussed before you decide on getting married and some of the huge benefit from getting married to the right person certainly for me was that, I had someone that supported me and 100% has got my back, that would help me in every way possible grow mentally and spiritually, He is my No 1 fan and he assists me with everything that I need to achieve my dreams for example starting this blog. He encouraged me to further my studies and supports me through it, He also encouraged my business ideas and whatever career path that I choose, I just have him to lean on every step of the way.
Marriage has its challenges which is pretty much because we both have different personalities, we are growing and learning about each other everyday. We have also been to marriage classes and seminars and we also have Mentors in our lives which really does help.
In Short it’s been fun and exciting, our church organises a couples weekend away every year we attended our first last year and had a blast, we think it’s a great platform to help married couples keep the fire burning as they say lol…
So fast forward to 1 year later after that registry we decided to have a reception which, we planned another wedding ourselves (why not, cant be missing out on thy paaarteey, walking down the aisle, bridesmaids, vintage car etc )
So that’s that the story of how I got married twice but to the same boy who stole my heart
